• KODE9 (Hyperdub, UK)
Kode9’s hyperdub sound is difficult to define, sometimes with beats, sometimes without, sometimes with a vocalist, sometimes without – the only continuity is the heavy sub bass. Currently, Kode9’s dj sets travel through a selection of sub-bass driven, heavy skank with off-key synths, drawing from the best of UK underground scenes such as dubstep, grime, UK house and garage.
Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Kode9 is now based in South London and runs the record label Hyperdub (releasing artists such as Burial, Spaceape, Warrior Queen, the Bug, Samiyam, Darkstar, Zomby, Ikonika, LV, and Quarta330 and commissioning remixes from the likes of Flying Lotus, Dabrye and Rustie). For 4 years, he hosted the weekly Fwd» show on London grime and dubstep pirate radio station Rinse Fm and is one of the rotating djs at the seminal dubstep nights DMZ and Forward» in London. He has released tracks on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label, pioneering dubstep label Tempa, Soul Jazz, Domino and his own Hyperdub imprint and has remixed artists such as the Junior Boys and Dabrye feat. MF Doom. His dj sets have helped spread the South London sound internationally, to East Asia, Europe, South America, North America and Australia. In 2006 he mixed the Dubstep Allstars Vol.3 CD compilation on Tempa records with vocalist Spaceape and released their debut album, ‘Memories of the Future’. Kode9 has performed at festivals such as Sonar (Spain), Mutek (Ca), Hypersonica and 4 Hype (Brazil), Bangface and Bloc (UK) and Synch (Greece). Kode9 has a Ph.D. in philosophy and has published a book, Sonic Warfare: Sound, Affect, and the Ecology of Fear.
Earlier this year, Kode9 & Spaceape released their 2nd album titled “Black Sun” on Hyperdub.

• QUANTIC’S TROPICAL DUB EXPERIENCE (Tru Thoughts, Colombia)
Will Holland is one of the most talented and prolific artists in the world of alternative dance music today. Recording under various guises, Will first found acclaim as Quantic. As well as Quantic and the Quantic Soul Orchestra
Quantic regularly DJs across the world (and we mean the World not just America, Europe and Japan) spreading the unique Quantic sound with each set. His music has been featured on countless compilations and appeared in TV soundtracks, and as ever he has a busy schedule of remixes from respected labels across the board. Remixing Charlie Parker and Breakestra, collaborating with Sharon Jones and Mr. Scruff, sharing a live stage with De La Soul, to producing and writing with Spanky Wilson.
The Best Of Quantic was released in September 2011 to celebrate ten remarkable years of Quantic music -making on Tru Thoughts records. Under his various guises, this musical troubadour has now released twelve albums and can truly lay claim to some of the most vital, fresh and soulful music of our time. This collection highlights the stunning range of his work, bringing together some of the biggest tracks from across his many projects; The Quantic Soul Orchestra, Flowering Inferno, Quantic and his Combo Bárbaro, The Limp Twins plus tracks with Alice Russell, Kinny and the legendary Spanky Wilson. The Tempo, Nickodemus and Candela collaboration ‘Mi Swing Es Tropical’ also features as well as three exclusive unreleased tracks, and of course the DJ and club-orientated Quantic studio productions that kicked it all off and still continue to move feet and minds the World over.
In 2012 we can look forward to one of Quantic’s biggest ever releases – a collaborative album with Alice Russell.

• HERU (Smut+Bass, Los Angeles)
Los Angeles’ best kept secret is out on a rampage. HERU is one of the hardest beat-slingers in town, with a preference for biting bass music and heavy dubstep. Heru’s stomping style is steely, dark, and in demand wherever bodies need to be thrashed and minds hope to be warped.
Heru has shared booths and stages with Joker, Nosaj Thing, D-Styles, Z-Trip, Jeremy Ellis, DNAE BEATS, Gaslamp Killer, Baths, Free The Robots, Ages, DevonWho, Ras G, Mono/Poly, Yuk, Tokimonsta, RUN DMT, Kraddy, Daedelus, and what turned out to be one of the most memorable nights in Low End Theory history when Heru closed for Radiohead’s very own THOM YORKE.
Heru has just released a new mix called “The Brown Note” which was also mastered by Daddy Kev, and also his latest mix, SMUT+BASS TING. This passionate artist’s trajectory is heading straight up, and now a member of the SMUT+BASS crew, Heru will soon be bringing his savage sonic warfare to dancefloor near you.
